KBC with SRK
I think there are things which SRK is doing which r for the better and few things which he need to work on.
After watching two episodes of KBC by SRK, this is what I feel –
The set and the format of the game remain the same so I guess comparisons are bound to happen… which in any case would have happened even if the set and the format were changed… There are people who have nothing else to do and in case they have better things to do, small talk is part of life… ;)
What SRK is doing differently? Well, one good thing SRK is doing is that he is trying to crack a few jokes every now and then, so that element of surprise is there. U never know what to expect, SRK is doing lot of things, from giving massage to contestants or presenting his Tag Heuer (Boy SRK s Tag would be worth millions if auctioned)
SRK has made the show youthful and full of life but he should be careful not to ridicule people for their names... and if he can give away that plastic smile of his which he passes when he is not sure what to do, he’ll be overcoming Big B s popularity from KBC.
Big B is Big B… whatever SRK does in the show u tend to imagine how Big B would have done it… Actually things have not changed much… Things which have changed are –
‘Lock’ has became ‘Freeze’
‘ComputerJi’ has become ‘ComputerDa’ (Community specific name, depending on the contestant)
‘Are you sure or Pakka’ has become ‘Kachha Kachha Pukka Pukka’
And everytime SRK signs the cheque – he has to crack this joke that he actually puts Luv before his signature like he is signing autograph… It was good for the first time but after that everytime he cracked this joke, I was getting irritated… (He cracked that one before every cheque he signed… Why??)
Another differentiating point between the two is that -
Big B treated everyone with respect and his charm used to show on everyone, the way people used to hug him and shake hands when they got selected after that fastest finger round…
SRK calls everyone as ‘tum’ and that extended handshake which he offers looks like a gay act! I know he is not macho but a lover boy so I guess he should avoid that extended handshake…
It will be interesting to see how SRK treats celebrity guest… Something to look forward to… I liked the way Big B conducted the game with Sonali Bendre (I remember this show not because of Big B but because of Sonali but I do remember him being all charming and chivalrous) in KBC1… I m ok with whatever humbleness or charisma Big B used to put for the show may be it was artificial but whatever it was it used to suit him.
In any case the show is going to be a hit because it is about money, a lot of money…and if not money a few will watch it for the Qs they ask – GK, some will watch because they have nothing else to do, some will watch because someone they know is on the show/studio audience, some will watch because they r big SRK fans, can’t miss anything he does and I would watch it to see what SRK has to offer, I mean PJ wise and even otherwise… like the promo song is very well done ;)
I m sure SRK can only improve and probably even he will host a KBC dwitiya (dwitiya because they r calling this season as KBC) after this season :)

Salaam-E-Ishq
It does not happen very often that i feel like walking out of the movie hall before the film gets over. I can stand the worst of the movies, but this one had me wanting to go out.
As a friend joked during the movie that we could have driven down to Bangalore in those 4 hours we were at the theater. The best part during those 4 hours was the interval! Need i say more about the movie.
6 stories and 3 and half hours was a bit too much... the plot didnt seem to move at all until the last few minute... Saving grace were the jokes cracked by people around, one of them was that we escaped with just 10 bucks per story and 5 rupees as tips ;) Luckily saved some money there, got Rs. 65 ticket.
In fact there were only 5 and half stories... the best story was screened only for 5 to 7 minutes in total, that of Isha Koppikar-Sohail Khan. I was even getting irritated by Priyanka Chopra in the movie, this doesn't happen often.
Only thing good in the movie according to me was Akshaye Khanna s acting... he played the role of confused bugger with some panache.
I would rate this movie 1/5... 1 for the confused Akshaye Khanna.

Fed Ex!
He mercilessly kills the opponents. He is so smooth with his shots and they seem so effortless that they look like the knocks before the match. Few people argue that Federer has been lucky not to have much competition, they say that Sampras played at a time where there were so many great players. I had been a fan of Sampras but in a Sampras-Federer match i would choose Federer. It is no joke to be the numero uno for two year. These two year he has faced players with different possible games and the only alluring feat for him is beating Rafa Nadal in the French open. I hope that happens this year in the French Open Finals. :)
I am backing Federer to win the Australian Open and make this record. Among the women i am backing Hingis if she is able to beat Clijsters in the Qtrs.

Guru - Review
Awesome flick, with great characterization. I would say its a must watch movie. Bachchan Junior's best performance till date as far as i m concerned. Madhavan was good for his part and Mithun da deserves a special mention for his work. Among the ladies: Aishwarya - I liked her for her acting also which otherwise doesn't happen in her movies and Vidya Balan - Every time i see her movies i am enchanted by her voice.
Its not that this movie got me dreaming and all that... but i do want the dvd of this movie in my collection.
Dont care if the movie is inspired by Dhirubhai or any other bhai... wat mattered was it entertained me for 3 hours and after i came out of the theatre i carried a feeling that i would love watching it again. It is a 4/5 movie for me.
I wil review it with spoilers when i watch it the 2nd time. ;)
Aaya aaya 'Guru Bhai'
